As we progress further into the season for television buying fueled by the return to school, shorter daylight hours, and the advent of football season (speaking of which, how about those Saints and good ol’ boys from LSU!?!), it becomes comical and tedious at the same time as television manufacturers constantly change dealer costs trying to gain ground in market share over each other.

So every week, we have to get on the internet, download the latest programs from LG, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Sony, and Samsung, and calculate new prices based on our minimum margins needed to stay in business.  We then get on Best Buy, Sears, and Wal-Mart’s website and see how these prices compare to theirs.  Mostly our prices are pretty much the same on the same model numbers by the same manufacturers, but sometimes a few of our models are significantly lower in price than theirs.  I’m always tempted to raise our price to their level to make a little more money, but there’s something very satisfying to kick their butt occasionally, which makes the statement that the big box stores aren’t necessarily cheaper, they just advertise that they are.  And didn’t your mother tell you not to believe everything you hear (except what I write about, of course)?

We do this every week, and I know our prices are lower than theirs, so I can’t help but be disenchanted when a customer makes a left handed compliment about how they probably are paying a little more for their television buying it locally at our store, but that it’s o.k. because of the benefits we give over the national chains.  Give me a break!

Yes, buying from us guarantees that you are getting “class A” fresh goods directly from the manufacturer, not class B, refurbished, graded, old, or grey goods meant for Big Lots or internet channels.  You also get to choose your selection in a pleasant environment with plenty of choices, get answers to your questions from people who can actually answer them, get it delivered and set up by a crew that knows what they are doing, have access to installation technicians that can connect all kinds of other equipment, and have the backing of a real service department that can actually repair your set if something happens to it such as lightening or a power surge.  But, what you don’t realize when you buy from us, is that you aren’t paying any more for your TV than those other stores.

If you have a hard time believing that we can compete so easily with the big box retailers, I have a suggestion.  Just go on-line and get the lowest price from those stores and then come by Simpson Electronics.  I promise that we will already have the same price or lower posted, and if we don’t, no problem.  We’ll just ring it up at their price.
Or you can skip all that, come pick out the TV you want from us, and we’ll get on-line and show you the cost at the other stores.

By doing that, you can be confident in the fact that you’re going to get the best model, at the very best price, backed by people who are passionate about taking care of their customers….why would anyone buy from anywhere else?
